Visit the Lauzerte potters' market
The Lauzerte potters' market is one of the most renowned in the South-West. Each year, more than 30 potters and ceramists come to present their creations in the verdant setting of the Promenade de l'éveillé. Held on the4th weekend of July, the event features a wide range of activities, including an exhibition on the art of pottery and a discovery workshop for children.
The Marché Potier, a major cultural event in Quercy Blanc
Raku, stoneware, porcelain or earthenware, the artists and potters at the Lauzerte market have been selected by the Terres Neuves du Sud-Ouest association for the quality and diversity of their creations. Gathered together in a spirit of sharing and conviviality, they'll be delighted to talk to you about their trades and techniques for tableware, jewelry, sculpture and decoration.
Take advantage of the opportunity to discover the landscapes on the Promenade de l'éveillé, designed in the 18th century to provide villagers with a walkway as well as a venue for the livestock fair. We recommend extending your walk to discover the magnificent medieval village of Lauzerte: as you wander through its narrow streets, you'll also have the pleasure of discovering the workshops of the village's art craftsmen.
Events around the potters' market
The Lauzerte Potters' Market is a two-day celebration of clay for young and old alike. Each year, youngsters are invited to get their hands dirty and express their creativity by taking part in a free workshop, while an exhibition introduces visitors to the innumerable skills associated with clay.
The highlight of the event is the presentation of works created by exhibitors as part of a competition , followed by a draw for a chance to win a unique piece!
